Hatchet for a personal game project
This was a model I made in Blender in a few hours. All modeling was done by hand using a reference image found through Google Images. All of the textures on the axe itself were hand painted. I marked the seams of the model, unwrapped and adjusted its UVs, exported the image and painted it in GIMP including a diffuse and specular map. The background was more of an experiment making realistic materials, where I took a 2D texture of a wood table and put it on a plane. To make it look more realistic I created a grayscale specular map as well as as a normal map to give he allusion of a 3D dimensional object. All of these textures were integrated using Blender Cycles. Other than that I did some very basic lighting and shadows work to add to the final rendering.
